our school
VLC offers therapeutic and caring alternative education for young people who are unable to access mainstream education. VLC works with children with SEN and EHCPs and those at risk of exclusion. Many of our students have been or are school refusers, and/or have attachment issues or trauma. For many of our students, they have been excluded or had failed placements at other specialist provisions, but at VLC we are committed to going the extra mile to try and support young people to get the education they deserve.
As a school we offer a broad and balanced curriculum taught 1-1 or in small groups, covering the national curriculum where possible. More details on our curriculum can be found here. Our holistic approach not only focuses on their academic learning, but also students social and emotional learning, preparing students for success at adulthood and supporting the wider family alongside other professionals. We also offer various forms of therapy and offsite activities to meet their needs.
